Empowering Communities for Sustainable Change
We, at MSCFSO, are committed to transforming lives in Ethiopia’s Amhara region by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, improving food security, and empowering vulnerable communities.
Guided by principles of equality, justice, and community participation, MSCFSO works collaboratively with rural farming communities, women, youth, and children to foster sustainable development and economic well-being.
Despite global progress, challenges persist in Ethiopia: over 700 million people worldwide live in extreme poverty, and access to clean water, education, and healthcare remains limited for many in rural areas like East and West Gojjam. Poverty statistics highlight the urgency of our mission.
- MSCFSO has supported over 9,420 farming households to improve food security through sustainable crop and livestock production.
- Over 6,400 unemployed and landless youths have gained job opportunities and skills through MSCFSO’s livelihood programs.
- MSCFSO has restored 7,626 hectares of degraded land, enhancing environmental sustainability and biodiversity.
- Access to clean water and sanitation has been provided to over 42,000 rural community members.
- More than 500,000 highly vulnerable children and families have received education, health, and psychosocial support.
- Globally, 785 million people lack basic drinking-water services, a challenge MSCFSO addresses in Amhara. 1
- One in ten people globally live in extreme poverty, with MSCFSO targeting vulnerable groups like women and children. 2
